Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader Sophy Laufer Shares Her Top Haircare Products and Styling Tips for Practice

Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader Sophia ‘Sophy’ Laufer has revealed how she gets her hair looking picture-perfect for practice – before sharing some of her favorite products.

Laufer, who marks her third year on the team in 2024, was featured on this summer’s hit Netflix show, America’s Sweethearts, which documented the behind-the-scenes of how the elite squad of 36 gets picked and prepares for the season ahead.

Since the premiere, the 20-year-old has taken to TikTok to share the secrets of her glam looks, detailing how she applies her makeup and perfects her appearance for game day.

Now, she’s giving viewers another peek at what it takes to get herself ready for practice, this time, sharing her favorite hair products and routine.

The first thing that Laufer does when starting to style her hair is use the $59.99 Hair Dryer and Hot Air Brush by Revlon.

To protect her stands, she sprays in the $34 IGK Good Behavior Smoothing Spray, which she loves for its frizz protectant and delicious smell.

‘This helps to get all of my kinky [hairs] and sometimes, when I wash my face, my baby hairs get kind of curly, so I’ll use this to kind of smooth everything out,’ she explained.

Laufer took the hot tool to the hair around her face, and sectioned off the hair at the top of her head.

‘I curled my hair and washed it yesterday, and normally I only have to do that once a week and then I will kind of touch up my hair throughout the week,’ Laufer explained in the clip.

‘I will Dyson the front couple of pieces and then call it a day,’ she added.

Once she was done using the Revlon on the strands around her face and at the crown, she used it to curl the hair at her root and mohawk area.

But before she put the Revlon brush away, she made sure to style her front pieces by combing the brush in a forwards motion and then again in a backwards motion to ‘help with the swoop effect.’

She acknowledged that the last step might seem ‘silly,’ but she promised viewers that it helps to lift and volumize the root, giving your hair a ‘nice clean base’ before using anything else.

‘Now that I’m done with that, it’s time for my Dyson,’ Laufer continued, as she pulled out the $599 multi-styling hair tool to start creating her big, Southern-style curls.

The Dallas Cowboys Cheerleading veteran said that she prefers to use the bigger attachment piece that comes with the Dyson, and then parts her hair in the middle to work with two sections.

‘I will start on one side, just go under and wherever I see there’s a piece that might not be as curled, I’ll just take it and start the Dyson,’ she explained, as she showed viewers the easy tutorial.

‘I definitely like the bigger, blown-out look, so I won’t even go all the way up and I will bush these out pretty quickly after I do them,’ Laufer shared.

The Netflix star repeated the process to curl the rest of her hair, and then said that she was going to let her hair sit for a few minutes as she got dressed for the day.

But before she even put the Dyson away, the 20-year-old had to sing the praise of the nearly $600 product.

‘The Dyson has definitely saved my hair because of DCC, and having to have my hair curled and look done all the time,’ she explained.

‘This has saved my hair heat-wise, because it’s not as harsh on your hair, so if you are trying to get your hair healthier but need it curled and done, definitely look into getting a Dyson if you don’t already have one.’

‘I know it’s expensive, but it has saved my life and I think I would have, like, one strand of hair left if it wasn’t for this and I was using a curling iron everyday,’ she joked.

Once Laufer was dressed and ready for the day, she came back to the camera to share her final steps.

To brush out her curls, Laufer took a big, pink brush with large bristles on it.

‘I like one that has a lot of tight bristles, because I feel like it smooths it out better, and I’m going to brush all of the curls out, and then I’m going to flip my head upside down and brush them as well,’ she said.

After the curls are all brushed out, Laufer takes the $36 Kérastase V.I.P. Volume in Powder hairspray and sprays it under her hair, which she says helps to make her hair look more ‘voluminous’ and ‘texturized’ on the bottom.

She also sprays the product on the hair in her front section.

For finishing touches, the squad member takes her big brush and uses it to fluff the bottom of her hair, and holds everything together with the $11.96 hairspray from the brand Big, Sexy Hair to get that perfect DCC-look.

And with that, the cheerleader was ready to head out for a long day of practice and teaching dance.

‘I hope you guys learned some new tips and tricks on how to get the big, voluminous, bouncy-curl look that I love, it’s kind of my go-to look,’ she said at the end of the clip.

‘Perfect Barbie doll,’ wrote rookie Charly Barby.

Veteran Kylie Dickson typed, ‘On my way to buy all these products.’
